Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and Viewmont Street Strut

I was honored to be able to participate in these two events. It was a great experience. My purpuse was to raise money for the Humane Society of Catawba County and https://www.facebook.com/ToLiveForOthers to help where and when I can.

I'm Nothing Without My Family

My family is the heart of me. Whenever I feel like there is no end, I look to my family. Photo Courtesy of Sam.

The Path

This painting is reminder that life is not perfect and ever changing. You just have to know how to be at Peace with the Whole.

Roxy Memorial

Roxy was our beloved boxer, my first pet. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

July Day Lilies

I had the opportunity to take pictures at one of my close friends' mother's day lily garden. I was surpried to find out that she had over 300 different species of day lilies. It was an awesome array of colors and scents.

Reinventing Me and My Web/Blog Site

Happy New Year everyone! I know it's a little late but I do wish the best to all in the up coming year.

So this post is just going to catch you up on what's been going on in my life, art projects coming up and, to see what you think of my new web/blog design.

Lets start with my art, I haven't been able to focus much on it.  This really puts a damper on my spirits but I have had other family obligations and that horrible funk that started going around since Thanksgiving and had yet another pass of some other stomach yuck, this includes everyone in the house!  Although, I did do one dog portrait of cute little Sissy.  I have doodled and sketched a little which was nice.  I have a few projects that I will be posting soon and excited to share.

In the mean time I'll be working on those projects and documenting them for future post and slowly but surely updating this site one page at a time.

Me Personally: I have had the roughest holiday season of my life! I tried to keep my spirit up for everyone around me but it was tough. I don't want to bore you with the details but I made it out alive and kicking.

Last year was a year of extreme highs and extreme lows. What doesn't kill me, will make me stronger. Let's hope so! I will be poring my heart and soul out for the world to read and see this year even if it's to vent.  Keeping things inside makes me an irritable and depressed person.  So I am going to let it all out!

What's been going on and what's to come...letting you know I'm still here...So Stay Tuned!

Downtown Hickory Art Crawl & Viewmont Street Strut

It has been a busy couple of weeks preparing for these events.

For starters, I had the happiness of adding 2 bouncing bundles of joy to my family on Sunday, September 16th. Jovi (she's the brown one) and Yoda (he's the other one).

Then later that night I thought I was going to lose my dad. My husband called 911 and explained his symptoms and the EMS were on route before any other information had been given. My stubborned dad, the man who taught me to give and share and to always think of others above all (I can't exclude my mom, she did too) did not want us to call for help. With that being said my father is still alive today.  Thanks to all the prayers and the knowledgeable EMS techs, nurses, and doctors I still have my dad.

I've been and still am trying to raise money for the Humane Society of Catawba County. For the past couple of months, lets just say, I'm a little sad.  I've only raised $105, although I still have two more opportunities to share my work and help.  I'm still offering my special price so check it out and get a portrait of your special companion this offer is only until the end of September.

An old friend of mine came back into my life and I found out that he is on a mission. His mission was to travel to Sudan with the Angels of East Africa to assist in helping the children there.  I didn't completely understand what was going on in that part of the world. So, I found out that there was a movie called Machine Gun Preacher that basically showed me what was going down.  Needless to say, I was completely moved and wanted to do what I could to assist Zach on this mission, shoot my husband wants to go too.  If you haven't seen the movie check it out! To show your support you can donate to his cause at http://gogetfunding.com/project/to-live-for-others or I will be giving him 25% of my future commission until he reaches his goal.

On top of all the giving and sharing I will be holding a raffle to help raise money for each of these causes.  It will start tomorrow night at the Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and then online. I will be selling the tickets for $3 for one ticket or $5 for two. My goal is to reach $600 for each cause, in return the winners will have the chose of a custom painting or drawing of that value.  I've always been told it's better to give than to receive and I just wanted to do my part.

In order to for this world to change we must help and care for one another every little bit we can.

So come out tomorrow night to the Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and the Viewmont Street Strut to show your support for the arts and our community.

Peace and Joy to you all!
