Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and Viewmont Street Strut

I was honored to be able to participate in these two events. It was a great experience. My purpuse was to raise money for the Humane Society of Catawba County and https://www.facebook.com/ToLiveForOthers to help where and when I can.

I'm Nothing Without My Family

My family is the heart of me. Whenever I feel like there is no end, I look to my family. Photo Courtesy of Sam.

The Path

This painting is reminder that life is not perfect and ever changing. You just have to know how to be at Peace with the Whole.

Roxy Memorial

Roxy was our beloved boxer, my first pet. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

July Day Lilies

I had the opportunity to take pictures at one of my close friends' mother's day lily garden. I was surpried to find out that she had over 300 different species of day lilies. It was an awesome array of colors and scents.

The Letter Boutique, My Little Studio and Family!!!

Life has been on the crazy side lately. Trying to put my art career together keeps getting pushed back.

My family means so much to me and with the news of my nephew coming down, contracting malaria in Laos put a heavy weight on my heart. On top of that my parents have been planning on returning to Laos anyways but this really made them quicken their step, or rather my step. In light of all that has happened my nephew is recovering after 8 bags of blood, i guess it was blood replacement, and meds he is doing well. I'm getting ready to move my parents entire house into a storage unit, oh what fun.

This is why my studio is a mess. I'm lying I can't seem to get it organized. Every time I get close life flips upside down on me. It definitely keeps life interesting.

So my art career is slightly on hold but I am producing art on a smaller scale. I'm painting letters for http://www.theletterboutique.com/ and it has been a blessing. I just wanted to thank Melanie Nguyen again from the bottom of my heart for referring me to Carrie, owner of The Letter Boutique. And Carrie thank you for the work and giving me a new frame of mind on what I could do.

So with everything that has happened I am producing art, it may not be mine per say, but I'm doing what I love.

Art & Crafty - Hair

Yesterday was a long day, I was with the kids and Rick and just finished my prednisone treatment about 2 days ago and feeling really strange, dizzy, you know not all there. My stepdaughter has been a bit head strong about not wanting to brush or dry her hair for about, oh, six months now. So I cut her hair off.

With me not being all there and not having very sharp scissors I didn't do that horrible of a job. So, a little crafty, a little artsy, Abigail got a new style.

Purple Flower Power

I did it finally! I have created a bouquet for Kim. I hope you love it, Kim. I can't wait to see your bridal pictures.

So creating bouquets are fun. All I have left to do is the brides maid bouquets and the table center pieces. I can't wait to see it all come together.

I've been busy...really!

Trying to make sometime for life and art is trying. Especially when you have a one year old, a part time ten year old, a husband that is on a different time schedule and parents preparing for their departure from the states and all of them requires my attention at a moments notice. Also, another member of the family wondering whether or not I'm helping with the finances. Well I've been doing work painting letters, yes letters.

I am working part-time painting these for www.theletterboutique.com it is run by this sweet mother of two. She started the business in 2007 while she was pregnant with her second baby, I believe. This was an idea I had for a long time but she beat me to the punch. Oh well, I'm really enjoying this and it'll help bring some much needed financial assistance.

So I have been busy supporting my art venture with art work, literally. But I've got some really cool stuff coming soon.

Cool letters huh!

Facebooking and Blogging...What?

Daily Project...not so much a project but a task.

Well, I've just begun. Learning to link these two sites is really confusing to me, oh well, let me know if you...my friends...find anything out of place and maybe during my learning growth things will start getting better.

I can't wait to start creating and showing everyone what I've made I'll have something updated by mid week so keep in touch.

Reminiscing my Face Painting Days

Back in 2008 I was introduced to the art of face painting by my dear friend Gordon. These pics are just a few of the fun times I had creating images and smiles on these sweet kids faces.

It was a great experience and I had a blast getting out in the public and seeing new sites and meeting new people. Meeting the other vendors around us really sparked something inside me. The camaraderie was wonderful at the venues we participated in. I know that one day I will become a vendor again but I'm not quite such what I'll be selling. I enjoyed every minute of it...except maybe for the torrential downpour on our last event. It was still fun as people gathered under our tent for shelter.

This was one the vendors daughter that took a special liking to me. She was so precious. That smile made it worth the two hour drive.

Thanks Gordon for asking me to be a part of your venture!
